I love this time period. The politicians are telling us
- Who did what
- Why we should be afraid of it
- And how they can save us from ourselves
Three Weeks Ago
Three weeks ago we were told to be wary of the Susan B Komen Race for the Cure agenda. They were going to cut funding to Planned Parenthood. We learned that one of the board members had come onto to the board with that very planned.
Let’s be tolerant of those bigots who want to protect us from ourselves. They must know better, because they want to stop preventive health services for all women. Most of these women have enough money to afford quality healthcare; while those who go to Planned Parenthood do not.
I am glad that SBK has come under scrunity. This organization fund raises nationally and then doles out monies sparingly. Last year, our local Catholic hospital lost funding for their breast cancer prevention. Why they weren’t sure. At least, SBK couldn’t accuse them of doing abortions. Maybe it was because of unresolved legal issues. God only knows.
Two Weeks Ago
Two weeks ago we were told that the government was going to force the Catholic Church to give birth control to all of their employees.
What was really said is that the policy writers and the churches (not just the Catholics) who opposed paying for preventive health services needed to work together on the verbiage. They could use the text from 25+ states who’ve already addresses this issue.
Last Week
Last week was “blame salt” week. This was courtesy of the CDC who has to handle this years mandate to educate and reduce obesity.
Their press release reminded me of this old courtroom drama. Where at the end the defense attorney stands up and says, “Your honor, this man sitting next to me is not the defendant. He is just pretending to be the defendant. The real defendant is the victim here; and he is sitting over there.”
That’s how I feel about salt. Real salt, the stuff from the deeper oceans is multi-hued and mineral packed. Our bodies respond differently to it. This albino chemical reaction that hides inside of cardboard cylinders barely resembles its namesake.
Which makes it easy to blame, because it really isn’t salt.
This week
What will this week bring? Only 2 days into the blogging week. I could look at the number of car accidents this week already. Bizarre stuff like the hit run who hit a parked car that rolled into the plumbing truck and killed the worker. Or the multiple pile ups today.
Oh well. Before the day is over, someone will tell me who to blame, what to be afraid of and why they can save me. Oh look, here it comes. Congress hasn’t dealt with unemployment benefits nor medicare payments to doctors.
